Simply Speaking is a sub-group of Healthwise Paris (http://www.healthwiseparis.org). Our principle concern is to provide simple and clear access to information and discussion on the different kinds of ‘talking treatments’ practised today. We are seeking to sustain a lively ‘conversation’ in the English language through the organisation of seminars, workshops and clinical work groups. Here, professionals from different fields and orientations can meet and exchange experiences, give advice and learn from each other. Non-professionals interested in the subject are also very welcome.

Information and Resources
We also provide information to the English-speaking community in Paris on public and private psychological health resources. Simply Speaking seeks to provide information to enable people who are looking for treatment to decide what is the right approach for them. The Healthwise Internet site not only provides a listing of practitioners but gives access to the Simply Speaking archives which is a ‘psy-clopedia’ of articles on all matters relating to psychological health for those who want to know more.

Simply Speaking Activities
You are not required to be a member of HWP nor of Simply Speaking to attend the majority of Simply Speaking events. However, HWP membership gives you free entry as there is an admission fee for non members. Information on current events can be found on the HWP Internet site:
http://www.healthwiseparis.org

Simply Speaking Membership
There are two types of member:
1) As a ‘practitioner member’ of Simply Speaking, members benefit from being part of a working community where it is possible to network and exchange ideas. Being a practitioner member also gives access to the clinical case work groups. By participating in Simply Speaking activities, practitioner members can contribute to the HWP Simply Speaking Internet site archives and Psyclopedia bringing their engagement as serious practitioners into play in the dynamic of the Simply Speaking working community.
2) ‘Non-practitioner members’ are welcome to participate in Simply Speaking activities. However, as non-practitioners, they do not have access to the clinical case work groups for reasons of case confidentiality.

How to become a member?
As Simply Speaking is a sub-group of HWP, the first step is to become a member of HWP, after which you can contact the Simply Speaking co-ordinator and request membership of the sub-group for which there is no fee.

Mailing Lists
To be put on the Simply Speaking mailing list, please send a mail to Victoria Woollard, Simply Speaking coordinator, via Franglo.
